MY JOURNEY

For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be a therapist. I appreciate the vulnerability it takes to ask for help, and I feel honored to walk with others as they grow healthier and more satisfied with their lives. I believe that change is possible with open-mindedness, honesty and willingness.

I remember how confused and overwhelmed I felt when I was unsure about leaving the field of law after years of schooling, starting a new career in my forties, or what to do when my marriage was falling apart.

My thoughts felt scrambled and overwhelming . . . Is this the right move? How do I know I will be okay? What if it doesn’t work out? How do I know it will be better on the other side?

At other times, I have found myself at different kinds of crossroads. When I tried to “muscle through,” my anxiety just grew as I continued to disregard clear signs that things were not “right.” What I was doing was not working, and something had to give.

Since then, I have learned that in order to feel content and satisfied, we must identify and live in alignment with our core values. We must become totally honest and willing to take uncomfortable, but ultimately gratifying steps. When we navigate challenges in a healthy way, we learn to trust ourselves, have self-compassion and compassion for others.

In addition to my education and years working in the field, I bring years of personal experience making major career changes, navigating divorce, being a single mother, and in recovery. I have gained flexibility, gratitude, a feeling of personal grounding, and joy.

Therapy is not a “one size fits all” process. I provide a safe, non-judgmental environment where we develop a relationship built on respect and trust. I help you recognize roadblocks that cause you to feel frustrated and unsure of yourself. Together, we shed light on new pathways that lead to greater confidence, greater joy, and freedom from doubt and worry.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a former criminal defense lawyer. In addition, I have been an Adjunct Professor in the Masters of Psychology program at Pepperdine University. Most importantly, I am a proud single mother of three amazing (and often challenging) daughters.

“Corey has guided me through The Work of Byron Katie several times over the last 8 months. I’ve come to her with specific resentments and fears and through this work together I’ve been able to release them and heal. This work has been instrumental in clearing away old limiting beliefs and making way for greater expansion and growth particularly within business and relationships. While being gentle, yet direct, Corey has an incredible way of leading one through the worksheet. Corey helps you go deeper to identify the truth verses the old narrative, and then to reframe it, as to find greater healing and transformation. Every time I do The Work with Corey I find greater enlightenment and authenticity within and I’m so grateful for the experience.”
